The Last Shadow Puppets, The Age of the Understatement
Alas, Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner unveils his much talked about side-project.

Tim Fite, Fair Ain't Fair
Less hip-hop on this one, and more twangy Tm Fite ballads.

No Age, Nouns
Noisy, art-punk duo that may have the most deluxe-packaged release of the week. If you download this one, you're missing out.

Nerf Herder, IV (left)
That's right, I put their album cover as the image on this week's Super Tuesday posting--I figured they could use the press more than Madonna. Possibly the funniest band in rock--so glad to see they're back.

Madonna, Hard Candy
With the full-length out now, Madonna has almost an hour to save the world.

The Roots, Rising Down
There's some irresistible wet-and-grimy bass lines on this album. I'm lovin' the track "Get Busy."

Portishead, Third
I still can't believe we had to wait 11 years for this album.

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (April 22)

Atmosphere, When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold (left)
Best album title of the year so far! Don't forget to catch Atmosphere on Lunch Box (Noon EST) today.

Tokyo Police Club, Elephant Shell
Tokyo Police Club's first album off Saddle Creek.

Flight of the Conchords, Flight of the Conchords
New Zealand folk-comedy-duo, doing what they do.

Billy Bragg, Mr. Love and Justice
England's National Treasure is still going strong!

Elbow, The Seldom Seen Kid
Fans of the dreamy pop-rock group should be very pleased.

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (April 15)

konk.jpg

The Kooks, Konk
I like that they're still using the same font!

M83, Saturdays=Youth
Amen to that!

Thrice, The Alchemy, Volume 3 + 4, Air and Earth
Got it? Adventures into prog-rock usually require album titles like this.

Phantom Planet, Raise the Dead
Phantom Planet's first record for their new label, Fueled By Ramen.

The Submarines, Honeysuckle Weeks
Some feel good music for Spring!

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (April 1)

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 | 9:42 AM

accelerate.jpg

R.E.M., Accelerate (left)
The critics are sayin' R.E.M. has returned to R.E.M. form. It's time to give it a listen and see what you think.

Moby, Last Night
Follow Moby's musical journey of the Lower East Side in NYC.

The Black Keys, Attack and Release
I heard that a dangerous mouse snuck in the studio for this one.

Anti-Flag, The Bright Lights of America
Another consistent offering from the Pittsburgh political punk rockers.

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (Mar. 18)

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 | 10:19 AM

gnarls.jpg

Once again blog-nation, here are the new music releases for Tuesday, March 18. Obviously, I have not listed EVERY new release today, just the ones that caused a blip on my personal radar. If you feel like your favorite act has been cheated, please post about their new releases as well. This is not a one-way street my friends:

Gnarls Barkley, The Odd Couple
Sophomore albums are always a beyatch--especially with all the added expectations, the pressure of a successful follow-up, branching out your sound, etc. Can Danger Mouse and Cee Lo avoid the slump?

The Kills, Midnight Boom
If you've been reading this blog for the last few weeks, you'll know I'm very excited about this one.

Be Your Own Pet, Get Awkward
Coming into their own on this album. Garage, punky rock with a female singer--sounds good, huh?

She & Him, Volume One
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward's band.

Adam Green, Sixers & Sevens
The other half of the Moldy Peaches does his thing. Before Juno, Kimya Dawson used to be known as "the other half of the Moldy Peaches."

Swtiches, Lay Down the Law
Slick Brit-pop comes to the states.

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (Mar. 11)

Tuesday, March 11, 2008 | 8:45 AM

PUSA.jpg

The Presidents of the U.S.A., These Are the Good Times People
It's an election year, of course there'd be a new Presidents' album. Like how I didn't reference "Lump" or "Peaches"? Doh.

Snoop Dogg, Ego Trippin'
When you've been in the game this long, you're allowed to do some ego trippin' every now and then.

Del Tha Funky Homosapien, 11th Hour
Del with the Def Jux medallion around his neck.

Junkie XL, Booming Back at You
I appreciate that they didn't name the album Boomin' Back at'cha (which they could have very easily done). Good dance beats!

Meshuggah, Obzen
Technically perfect metal--technically.

Mike Patton, A Perfect Place (Orignal Motion Picture Soundtrack)
My buddy Rich thinks Mike Patton is the hardest working man in music--he could be right.

Kelis, The Hits
Spanning the last 7 years of her career. Isn't that too early for a "hits" album?

The Vines, Best of The Vines
Like I said.

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (Mar. 4)

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 | 8:43 AM

jicks.jpg

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Real Emotional Trash
A little jolt of feel-good on your Tuesday morning.

The Gutter Twins, Saturnalia
Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli join forces for a hauntingly good time.

Bo Deans, Still
All these '90's artists releasing albums this Tuesday, I'm getting all weepy here. Sorry, "Closer to Free" was on heavy rotation at my college radio station.

Bauhaus, Go Away White
This has been billed as the "New and Final Bauhas Album." If so, the forefathers of Goth go out with respect. I know shout-outs are mostly a hip-hop thing, but much love to Peter Murphy!

Flogging Molly, Float
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day!

What Made Milwaukee Famous, What Doesn't Kill Us
This band's actually from Austin, TX, and from the sound of things, I think I'm going to like them a lot.

Murder by Death, Red of Tooth and Claw
Johnny Cash and Tom Waits fans looking to add something new to your record collection?

Black 47, Iraq
"...a dry-eyed view of life in combat."

The Black Crowes, Warpaint
Ah, now we can listen to the whole album and see how many "stars" it's really worth.

The Ruby Suns, Sea Lion
World-pop-experimental-indie-music

Autechre, Quaristice
You gotta sit through some electronic jabberwocky to get to the beats, but if you're cool with that, you'll dig this.

Kathleen Edwards, Asking for Flowers
Kathleen Edwards doing what Kathleen Edwards does (nice little acoustic ballads with a tad of twang).

SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (Feb. 26)

It's Tuesday, February 26. Here's what the music gods from above have delivered us today (these aren't in alphabetical order, they're arranged according to my excite-o-meter)...
