Saying Goodbye To TRL with Haikus

I don't know if this popped up on anyone's radar, but last night MTV said farewell to its former flagship show, TRL (Total Request Live). Demonstrating how popular TRL had become, or how low it had sunk, I found out about the finale through a text message from my mother.

I was never a fan of the show, so when I found out it was being cancelled, I'd be lying if I told you I didn't feel some sense of joy run through my veins. On the other hand, I had a lot of friends who worked on the show, and I know it's not the easiest thing finding work in today's media climate (I know from first hand experience).

I would never want to make light of someone losing their job, however, the pre-MTV me, someone who wanted to see TRL cancelled 10 years ago, couldn't help but write some haiku poetry commemorating the occasion:

I hated it then
And I'm happy that it's gone
Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye!

Total Request Live
Sold Gangsta Rap to young kids
Not anymore, ha:)

Goodbye TRL
Wooing tweens will woo no more
Indie wins again!

Yo...I remember this one episode of TRL where some dude was like all up in Fred Durst's stuff about a wiener rhyme or something!

P.S. If you're reading this and have a favorite TRL moment, please share it here in the comments.

I remember this one time Tyra Banks was looking for a male model. They couldn't find ANYONE worthy enough to do it, and Tyra spots this one guy. She was all about this guy and the TRL tools were freakin out, "No No not him". That show couldn't die soon enough.
