I'm sure many of you have seen the joint collabo Julian Casablancas (The Strokes), Santogold, and Pharrell Williams (N.E.R.D., The Neptunes) recently did for Converse. Over the last few years it's been common practice in the indie world to lend out a song for a commercial.

However, the trio mentioned above, not only lend out a song, but they created an original tune and also appear in the clip. Whether this hurts their indie cred is a conversation for another day. What I want to know is, now that the song has had some time to breathe, how does it stack up against these other sneaker commercial tunes?

P.S. Run-DMC's "My Adidas" is not eligible since it was not written specifically for a commercial.

"My Drive Thru," Julian Casablancas, Santogold, Pharrell (Converse)

"G Unit & S. Carter Collection," 50 Cent and Jay-Z (Reebok)

"Get Off On The Right Foot," (British Knights)

Ha...British Knights! I think the Converse jam takes it here.

I have to give British Knights points for hilarious oldie commercial, but the Converse tune definitely wins this battle easily. I have to agree with troy.

Today is another day... should we really CARE if this "hurts their indie cred"? Besides, Pharrell has be come so mainstream, its hard to remember that he even HAS "indie cred"
