Many of you may remember that while in Weezer, bassist Matt Sharp formed a side-project called The Rentals (with fellow Weezer-mate, Pat Wilson, on drums). After Sharp left Weezer, he concentrated full-time on the band. The Rental's biggest hit to date is "Friends of P.", a quirky new-wave college rock fave released off the group's debut album, Return of The Rentals.
I was overjoyed to recently find out that Tokyo Police Club did a cover of this tune to help raise money for lupus research (an incurable disease that affects over 1.5 million Americans). The cover song is currently being streamed at FriednsOfP.org, where visitors can make donations to the Lupus Foundation of America.
Supposedly you can also download the song if you're "clever," which I'm not, so if you figure out how to do it please hit me up in the comment section below. Thanks!

Haven't figured out how to download yet... but after you click play on the record... double click the center of the record while it's spinning and it opens up a link for a "stand alone" quicktime version of the song. That may be a clue onto something...
I think that's it. I downloaded the Quicktime movie, then exported it as a music file. That double-click on the middle of the record player worked!
must be a Mac thing, it wouldn't let me download any files... stupid pc. (mac vs. pc commercial pun unintended)
