Indie Ear Madness
First Round, North Region
March 20, 2008
1 Radiohead vs. 16 Ting Tings
Radiohead wins big--no surprise here.
8 Cat Power vs. 9 Anti-Flag
Anti-Flag's front-four outdoes Cat Power (who left halfway through the competition)
5 The Kills vs. 12 British Seapower
A lot of people had British Seapower advancing in their brackets, but The Kills won convincingly.
4 Sons & Daughters vs. 13 Gliss
Close contest, but Sons & Daughters pulled through.
6 Goldfrapp vs. 11 Georgie James
Our first upset of the day! Goldfrapp's new mellow direction was no match for Georgie James' feel-good indie pop.
3 The Hives vs. 14 Jim Noir
Jim Noir's got some big hits, but The Hives played phenomenal in the second half, especially when they pulled out, "Hate To Say I Told You So."
7 Liam Finn vs. Billy Bragg
The young Finn put up a good fight, but Bragg's experience was just too much.
2 The Raconteurs vs. 15 Voxtrot
A lot of critics thought The Raconteurs would be rusty, since they haven't played together in a while, but they looked and sounded very sharp today.
