Peter and Vandy, indie soundtrack

Playwright Jay DiPietro turned his 2002 stage production "Peter and Vandy" into a film loaded with indie music. The film, his directorial debut, is a love story that tries to answer the common question, "How the hell did we get this way?" through a non-linear telling of all the moments that make up a relationship. Events juxtaposed, disconnected chronologically, but connected in their eventual illumination of the characters. Jason Ritter and Jess Weixler (Teeth, Alexander The Last) star. Timothy Saccenti is a photographer and director who's been doing some impressive, meticulous work in the music word. His beginnings in photography have lead him down a path crowded with artists like TV on the Radio, Erykah Badu, The Rapture, Grandmaster flash, and Black Mountain. Directing music videos was a natural turn for Saccenti and though he may still be a photographer at heart, he's been extra alluring lately with his motion work. Three weeks ago, Indie Ear Madness '09 began with 64 of the best indie-minded/respected bands in the land. After some fierce and furious competition, TV On The Radio and The Bouncing Souls were the only two acts left standing. Last night they went head to head, competing not only for the 2009 National Championship, but for indie music bragging rights, which (you'd think) would at least guarantee them a free shot of espresso in any non-chain coffee shop in America.
