10RW: You Should Be Excited About Lollapalooza

Yesterday, the official line-up was announced for this year's Lollapalooza festival, which will be held in Chicago's Grant Park on the weekend of April August 7-9. This is the fifth year of the re-vamped Lollapalooza--which transformed from traveling tour in the '90s to one-stop-shop festival in the '00s--and the fifth time it will take place in Chicago (festival organizers have a 10-year agreement with the city's park district). SXSW...One Week Later

Sadly, my seven-year streak of attending SXSW came to an end this year. No live music for four straight days (sigh), no warm weather for an east coaster looking to escape a winter that doesn't want to end (sigh), no discovering a handful of promising, up-and-coming indie rock bands (sigh), and no gnawing on a big Texas rib from Iron Works BBQ (sigh). My body does thank me though--I didn't stay up past 2AM one time last week, and come to think, I don't think I had to wait in any long lines either. MORE »

Hooray! and Boo! for Coachella

As expected, one of the most anticipated U.S. festivals of the year boasts an amazing line-up (that's right, I busted out the word "amazing"). Paul McCartney, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, Leonard Cohen, and Conor Oberst play the first day. The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Thievery Corporation, and TV on The Radio will play Saturday. Never Too Early For SXSW

Speaking of which, not only are the Beastie Boys hard at work on theirs--which has been rumored to drop in May (although, because the Beasties like to take their time with things, that could mean May of 2010, 11, 12, etc.)--but they are also re-issuing their now legendary sophomore album, Paul's Boutique.
