The inevitable first sequel to what would end up being many inevitable sequels to “Scary Movie” reunites Cindy (Anna Faris) Brenda (Regina Hall), Ray (Shawn Wayans) and Shorty (Marlon Wayans), who are now at college and trying to live normal lives after the antic mayhem of the previous film; they seem cursed to forever spoof movies (horror and otherwise) no matter what, however, when they’re invited by Professor Oldman (Tim Curry) to visit Hell House in a ploy to use the students as bait and guinea pigs for studying the building’s rampant paranormal activity. The rape of a clown doll (in a twisted nod to “Poltergeist”) and oral sex from a ghostly hottie (in a nod to … something) ensue in this gonzo satire that manages to squeeze in cracks at “The Exorcist,” “What Lies Beneath,” “Hollow Man” and even “Dude, Where’s My Car?,” among many other films that really didn’t ask for it (well, maybe a little). The last of the “Scary Movie”‘s to involve the Wayans Brothers either in front of or behind the camera; “Airplane!” and “The Naked Gun” maestro David Zucker took over with “Scary Movie 3.” – IFC Staff
