Take that “Final” moniker with a truckload of salt, of course, as the series ended up just getting started with this fourth chapter of the Jason Voorhees chronicles. Taking place one day after the 3-D mayhem of “Part III,” “The Final Chapter” features Jason back from the dead and doing what he does best, this time back home at Crystal Lake as a group of youngsters parties the weekend away in a rented house next door to Trish and Tommy Jarvis (Kimberly Beck and Corey Feldman), siblings who team up with Rob Dier (Erich Anderson), the revenge-minded brother of one of Jason’s female victims from “Friday the 13th Part 2.” Considered by many fans to be one of the best of the “Friday” films, “The Final Chapter” incorporates a wink-wink sense of meta-humor to the bloody goings-on, featuring a group of hard-drinking, promiscuous teens who seem vaguely aware that they’re indeed the doomed stars of a “Friday the 13th” movie. Feldman delivers one of the series’ most celebrated moments in the final scene: a thousand-yard stare that suggests that, if anyone were to pick up Jason’s torch, it’s probably one of the Coreys. – IFC Staff
