Many people are not familiar with the manifestations of bipolar disorder, and in Manic, viewers will be presented with many facts about the illness. In this dramatization, a college professor experiences symptoms that are alarming to his family and friends. He disappears for days at a time without explanation, seems markedly depressed, and after taking medication, seems to be better. However, his condition worsens, with behavior that both puzzles and angers those around him. Even with medical intervention, his life seems out of control as the disorder takes over.
