Make Media Matter

Protests: Pictures Painted By The Media

Category: Awareness

Only a year ago there were pictures circulating of protesters at political gatherings. They ranged from signs that read "F@#% Bush," "Bush is a Nazi," and "Bush is the Devil." During some of the protests there were figures of Bush burning at the stake or being hanged. Now there are pictures going around the world of people protesting Barack Obama and his policies. The pictures ranging from "Obama Lies, Grandma Dies," "Obama is a Racist," and "Obama Bin Laden." I guess things just don't change. That was true until the media decided to try their hand at art and paint their own mural. What do I mean? Well here's what I know.48124770.jpg
Recently television sets across the nation have been flooded with pictures of angry protesters that are shouting, and waving threatening posters. Most of the pictures and videos star an unruly bunch that could be compared to the likes of the KKK. On the other hand Fox News doesn't show anything but happy-go-lucky protesters that are only standing there to get on TV or maybe even a tan. It would be strange to think that no one is publicly displaying their anger, but at the same time I find it hard to believe that everyone at the "Tea Parties" are a bunch of hate mongers that want nothing more than to see the death of every man woman and child that supports Obama.
It would seem that just about every network isn't being too honest with their viewers. Networks play the game just as good as any politician and its hurting the minds of many Americans. The networks are out to further their agenda and popularize their side of the story, just as they did during the Bush presidency. Some channels played the footage of riots in the street with people yelling death threats at Bush, while the rest of the channels played video of an edited town hall meeting. In that respect, it seems that things don't change. 2449884296_06d33a9d5f.jpg
What does this mean to you? It can mislead you, and turn you into a blind patriot...something that is more dangerous than a gun. It is OK to follow, but do not listen, and follow someone without looking over the other side of the fence first. We must realize that the media is not something that is there to serve our needs. It is there to be a selfish octopus that will wrap us in its tentacles of deceit and have us receive only the information it gives you. When you see something on TV, or anywhere for that matter, don't think that it is the only part of the story. In this age the media is the master and outdoes Michelangelo everyday of our lives.
