"We work in a completely uncensored environment, without the constraints of conventional network programming. Hopefully, this allows for candor and spontaneity from our guests and perhaps makes our show somewhat different than the usual talk show. I don't spend much time in front of a television. I try to make a show that I would watch."
- Henry Rollins.
It all started in December 2004 when IFC premiered a quirky show about film called Henry's Film Corner, hosted by Henry Rollins, the articulate and opinionated former lead singer of "Black Flag," front man of the "Rollins Band," actor, author and spoken word artist. The series' popular and critical success led to the broader format in 2005 of The Henry Rollins Show, called "the coolest talk show on the planet" by TV Guide. The Henry Rollins Show features candid conversations with celebrity guests and musical performances personally approved by Henry Rollins. This is the independent alternative for guest musicians and celebrities who hope to reach an artistically savvy audience that is intelligent and informed.
Henry continues to give us his unique take on the current state of pop culture, politics and everything entertainment, for better or worse. The Henry Rollins Show takes an uncensored approach to talk show programming with a voice that strikes a brilliant balance of humor, angst, art and intellect.
During each 30-minute episode, the outspoken Rollins offers topical, subversive, no-holds-barred debates in IFC's uncut, uncensored environment. The show offers a unique platform where celebrities from film, music, politics and literature can discuss what's truly on their mind in an unscripted and uncensored forum. These long form interviews allow guests to speak their mind and dissect the important issues at hand. Henry has no interest in silly anecdotes and rehearsed banter. Past guests include Oliver Stone, Ozzy Osbourne, Chuck D, Matt Dillon, Penelope Spheeris, Kevin Smith and Werner Herzog.
Exclusive performances from some of the most important established and emerging bands in music today: high integrity acts that are Henry-approved. Artists have the rare opportunity to perform their music completely uncensored, in its intended form. Performances are 'live in studio' and filmed at The Bombshelter, a state-of-the-art recording studio in Los Angeles, owned by Eric Kretz of Stone Temple Pilots. Past musical guests include Sleater-Kinney, Thom Yorke, John Doe, Frank Black, Jurassic 5, Dashboard Confessional, Ben Folds and Death Cab for Cutie.
The Henry Rollins Show is created and executive produced by Swift River Productions, a Los Angeles based film and television production company. Richard Bishop, Rollins' manager, is also a producer. Swift River's principles are Paul J. Morra, Kevin Morra and Rhett Bachner. Their credits include producer roles on
Project Greenlight, The Mole, Bands on the Run and MTV's
Posse. Additionally, this Emmy-nominated team has worked on features such as
Titanic, Bowfinger, Six Days and Seven Nights and
The Peacemaker. Christine Lubrano, Debbie DeMontreux and Evan Shapiro are executive producers for IFC.
