Trevorrow is best known for 2012’s indie hit “Safety Not Guaranteed."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures has picked the director of “Jurassic Park 4″: newcomer indie director Colin Trevorrow. This will be the first movie in the franchise since 2001’s “Jurassic Park III.”

Trevorrow’s first feature film, last year’s “Safety Not Guaranteed,” starred Aubrey Plaza as a young journalist investigating a man (Mark Duplass) who claims to have invented time travel. The comedy was very well received, and was nominated for several awards at the Sundance Film Festival and the Independent Spirit Awards.

Also attached to “Jurassic Park 4” are producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley and (of course) executive producer Steven Spielberg. “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver will be penning the script. The film is scheduled for release on June 13, 2014.
