“X-Men: Days of Future Past” gains Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore
They'll be joining other returning cast members like Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
The long list of returning actors in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” just got a bit longer. Director Bryan Singer has revealed that original “X-Men” stars Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore will be getting back in their X-Men uniforms for the new movie.
“Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast – thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!” he tweeted, referencing the “X-Men: The Last Stand” director.
Those three actors will join other original X-Men actors Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. In addition, “First Class” stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will be back for more. It remains to be seen if others like Famke Janssen and Halle Berry will make appearances as well.
What’s interesting with all this returning actors news is that it doesn’t only seem to be to stick with the “Days of Future Past” dual universes storyline. Could Singer be trying to finally tie together the two “X-Men” film series (excluding the extraneous Wolverine films, of course)? That would definitely be something we’d be okay with seeing.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is due in theaters on July 18, 2014. The official plot synopsis says “the storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men.”Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, X-Men: Days of Future Past
