The film comes out on March 29.

“The Host” is doing its best to convince the world that it’s not just another Stephenie Meyer love story, and thus far it’s doing a pretty great job. The trailer that recently hit theaters shows a sci-fi film much more richly created than Meyer’s “The Twilight Saga,” and one that we’re much more interested in. Now 10 new images from the movie have debuted that continue to tease the world of the alternative universe.

The stills come courtesy of Hollywood.com. The images are part of “The Host: The Official Illustrated Companion,” courtesy of Little, Brown and Company. Our favorite is the above, which shows Saoirse Ronan’s Melanie fighting against the invading alien race seeking to take her prisoner.

“The Host” follows a rebel named Melanie Stryder who gets captured by the alien race that has taken over much of humankind and gets implanted with an alien known as Wanderer. The rest of the story unfolds as Melanie’s consciousness fights against Wanderer’s and, eventually, ends up convincing the alien that her invading race is in the wrong.

Directed by Andrew Niccol, the film stars Ronan, Diane Kruger, Jake Abel, Boyd Holbrook, Max Irons, William Hurt and Frances Fisher. It’s due to hit theaters on March 29.
