Exclusive premiere: Wojcik “Pick Me Clean”
Brooklyn’s Wojcik released the their debut album, yesterday, titled “Wise Blood,” in a nod to Flannery O’Connor’s 1952 Southern Gothic novel of the same name. The band is a duo fronted by Hailey Wojcik, who describes her sound as Midwestern Gothic (she’s from Michigan originally). The multi-talented singer plays most of the instruments on the album, from guitars to synths and dreamed up the sonic elements, made of field recordings she layered underneath.
She also did this stop motion animation (with director Audrey Culver) for the grimly fuzzed up, “Pick Me Clean,” in which a girl has a run in with the walking dead in the woods. Like many a dead-eyed zombie, it has a penchant for human ears, camo and extreme finger nibbling.
