The Golden Globe winner will grace Marvel's Norse superhero sequel.
The major cast members are all returning to “Thor 2.” Recent Golden Globe-winner Idris Elba is the latest actor to reveal that he’ll be back for some more Norse action.
“‘Thor 2′ for sure,” he told MTV News on the Globes red carpet. ” ‘Avengers,’ we’re not sure about, but ‘Thor 2′ we’re going at it again.”
Elba admitted that he hasn’t yet met with director Alan Taylor to talk about the project. But it’s nice to know that he’ll be joining Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and the recently-announced Jaimie Alexander in the upcoming Marvel superhero flick. Only Hemsworth and Hiddleston will be featured in “The Avengers” unless director Joss Whedon adds some quick cameo appearances from the other three during post-production.
“Saving Private Ryan” screenwriter Robert Rodat is currently rewriting “Thor 2″. Don Payne penned the original script. “Thor 2″ is eying a summer production start date. It’s slated to hit theaters on November 15, 2013.
Elba is currently filming in Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim.” He gave MTV News a quick scoop about the status of the alien invasion movie.
“I’m going back tomorrow morning. I’ve been there for five months,” he said. “I love it. Guillermo’s a genius, and the film we’re making is a huge film, bad monster movie and robots and me.”
