Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt wish you a happy New Year’s Eve through song

The "500 Days of Summer" stars have recorded an adorable cover of "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?"
In what’s certainly the cutest Internet video since that cat watching tennis (which I can’t seem to find, so maybe I dreamt that one), “500 Days of Summer” stars Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have recorded themselves covering Nancy Wilson’s holiday ditty, “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” With Deschanel strumming the ukulele and Gordon-Levitt handling guitar, the scene recalls the best moments from their 2009 indie hit before, you know, everything went to shit.
Posting the video to her equally huggable website HelloGiggles.com, the She & Him singer introduced the duet with a glowing ode to her friend.
“I have known Joe Gordon-Levitt for going on 12 years,” she says. “We first met in the summer of 2000 while doing a tiny movie called ‘Manic,’ where we bonded over a mutual appreciation for Harry Nilsson and Nina Simone and I have been lucky enough to call him one of my dearest friends ever since. When we did ’500 Days of Summer’ 8 years later, we spent every lunch hour dancing to Marvin Gaye in the hair and make up trailer; we had loads of fun. I hope to do a thousand more movies with him because he’s simply the best. But in the meantime, we made a little New Year’s duet for all of you! The original by Nancy Wilson. ENJOY! Don’t forget to check out Joe’s website http://hitrecord.org.”
Zooey Deschanel returns to television January 17 with “The New Girl” on Fox. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a busy movie plate for 2012, including “The Dark Knight Rises.”
