“Portlandia” Wins an Emmy Award

We would like to thank Fred's wig and Carrie's fleece vest.
Portlandia put a bird on the Emmys! The show was awarded an Emmy for costumes for a variety/music program. Designer Amanda Needham and supervisor Niki Dimitras won the honor in a special category that asks, “Is this entry worthy of an Emmy Award?” When it came to “Portlandia,” the answer was a unanimous yes! As Splitsider put it, “Possibly out of awe at the sheer amount of flannel that can fit on one screen.” We prefer to think of it as if you can make Fred Armisen look this good in a dress, you deserve an award:

We couldn’t be more proud of “Portlandia” and the entire cast and crew that made this possible. Here are some of the many many costumes that make the Portlandia costume department officially The Best:

Based on the costumes we’ve seen from season two of “Portlandia,” which is filming now, we bet the amazing costume department will make it a repeat next year:

The second season of “Portlandia” premieres on IFC in January of 2012
