I’m such a fan of Michael Tully the film critic from Hammer To Nail that I sometimes forget about Michael Tully the filmmaker, who went to school with (and worked on the early films of) David Gordon Green, and who directed “Cocaine Angel” and the 2007 documentary rock doc “Silver Jew.” His latest film is “Septien,” which premiered at Sundance and on video on demand back in January from Sundance Selects. I talked with Tully the director about making (and acting in, and playing tennis in, and having a really crazy beard in) his film, and I spoke with Tully the critic about what he’s liked so far at SXSW 2011. He also made me sign one of the posters of me that’s hanging up in the IFC Crossroads House (by my request, I assure you), for which I will someday make him pay a horrible, painful price.
“Septien” will make its theatrical debut, as well as its return to VOD, this summer.
