The Trailer for Bollywood’s Version of “Fight Club”

The first rule of Bollywood "Fight Club" is you don't talk about how it it looks nothing like Hollywood "Fight Club."
All hail the ladies (and men) of Cineboobs, the site devoted to “women writing about film and TV and stuff,” for finding this gem of a YouTube clip. It’s the trailer for the Bollywood version of David Fincher’s “Fight Club.” The film, from 2006, is called “Fight Club: Members Only,” which kind of makes it sound like the gay porn remake of “Fight Club” (so does the part when they talk about “the left hand rule”). But it’s probably just called that because these guys wear a lot of jackets. Watch:
Bollywood remakes more Hollywood movies than Hollywood does. And most of them are unfaithful to their source material — the Bollywood “Memento” (one of the highest grossing movies in Indian cinema history, by the way) is way more beefcake-y than Guy Pearce’s ever was. But “Fight Club: Members Only” looks especially strange. Or maybe I’ve been hit too many times by the members (only) of my local fight club and forgotten that scene where The Narrator and Tyler Durden go slo-mo wire-fu on a gang of thugs. Who cares? I’d love to watch the whole movie.
