“Portlandia” is an original short-based comedy series stemming from the duo’s love of Portland and their work on the much-admired web series Thunderant. The show stars Armisen and Brownstein, alongside an assortment of guests including Kyle MacLachlan of “Sex & The City” and “Twin Peaks”, Aubrey Plaza of “Parks and Recreation”, Selma Blair, Heather Graham,, Portland-based director Gus Van Sant, and Portland’s real mayor Sam Adams. These stars will help illuminate the rich tapestry of characters that make up life in Portland: Bicycle rights activists; feminist bookstore owners; crafters who put birds on things; an organic farmer who turns out to be a cult leader; an adult hide-and-seek league; and a couple negotiating a “safe word.” (“Cacao!”)

The show will also spotlight musical talent and singer/songwriters Sarah McLachlan and Aimee Mann will guest star, alongside local Portland talent James Mercer (The Shins), Jenny Conlee and Colin Meloy (The Decemberists), and Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney).

Shot entirely on location in Portland, the series was created and written by Armisen, Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel of “Saturday Night Live.” Krisel is also the series’ director. The series is executive produced by SNL mastermind Lorne Michaels.
