Michael Giacchino Lets Us In

The Academy Award winning composer of "Up" on his work for the film "Let Me In."
Matt Reeves’ “Let Me In” is very similar to the film that inspired it, the Swedish vampire movie “Let the Right One In,” but it’s superior in at least one key regard: Reeves’ version has a score by composer Michael Giacchino. Giacchino’s memorable work has been heard on the TV series “Lost” and in films like “Star Trek,” “The Incredibles,” and “Up,” for which we won a well-deserved Oscar. His haunting and ethereal music for “Let Me In” soaks every scene in gothic atmosphere and perfectly evokes the terror at the heart of its story of a troubled boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and his kinda-cute, kinda-horrific relationship with a young vampire (Chloe Moretz). I got to talk to Giacchino on the red carpet at Fantastic Fest 2010′s Opening Night.
