Fall movie season — and all the resplendence, prestige, and hype that comes with it — is nearly upon us. Before we start looking forward to the great movies coming our way (we hope), we’re looking back at the best of 2010 so far, or at least the best of 2010 so far that you can watch right now on your DVD or Blu-ray player. Alison thinks it’s a great year for accidental detectives, from the title character in “Mother” to the title character in “The Ghost Writer.” Matt makes the case for “Green Zone” as a modern day “Rambo.” And both weigh in on some cinephiles’ obsession with technical visual minutia.
