Breaking down the many flavors of end-of-world movie to hit theaters this fall, from "9" to "2012."
The apocalypse is so hot right now, and not just because of neutrinos overheating the Earth’s core. This week sees the release of John Hillcoat’s “The Road,” which, with its Pulitzer Prize-winning source material, is certainly the most pedigreed end-of-world movie to hit theaters this year, if far from the only one.
“2012″ has made over $300 million worldwide, “9″ stands an outside chance of getting an animation Oscar nomination, “Zombieland” found indie-style quirk in the undead-filled wreckage and “Collapse” posited a far from outlandish end of days scenario — and that’s only looking through this fall. Below is a breakdown of the many flavors of Armageddon to be found in theaters this season. (Click the image to enlarge.)
