“Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight”
The whole world knows designer Milton Glaser’s strikingly evocative yet remarkably simple work, even if his name’s not as familiar. Responsible for such iconic imagery as the “I &heart; New York” logo and the DC Comics’ bullet logo, as well as co-founding New York magazine, Glaser has had his designs showcased in galleries and museums all over the world. First-time director Wendy Kay uncovers the man behind the art, detailing Glaser’s spirited personality and vivacious love for the arts.

“New World Order”
Following “Darkon,” their debut doc chronicling the exploits of a Maryland-based role-playing community, filmmakers Luke Meyer and Andrew Neel reunite to unearth an entirely different subculture of obsession — global conspiracy theorists. Focusing primarily on prominent political activist/radio personality/occasional tinfoil hat aficionado Alex Jones and his cohorts, “New World Order” showcases fear and paranoia in all its forms, from 9/11 speculation to the corroboration behind globalization.

“Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian”
For all the mayhem of the 2006 hit first installment — dinosaur skeletons playing fetch and the like — the movie needed, and director Shawn Levy failed to bring, a modicum of restraint. Staying true to summer sequel formula (better = more), the stakes have been upped and the action relocated to the world’s largest museum for the sequel. Ben Stiller returns as bewildered security guard Larry Daley, who infiltrates the D.C.-based institute to rescue plucky cowboy Jedediah (Owen Wilson) and stuffy centurion Octavius (Steve Coogan), who’ve been shipped there by mistake. Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Chrisopher Guest, Amy Adams and others play various historical figures that once more come to life when the lights go out.

“Terminator Salvation”
Borrowing from existing Terminator lore and at the same time rewriting it, director McG casts John Connor (Christian Bale) as the leader of the rag-tag remnants of humanity. He encounters Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a new breed of cyborg who just might hold the key to victory for the beleaguered resistance. We’ve high hopes for this one, but James Cameron’s haunting sequences of industrial horror and fields of scorched bone mean everything else will have to work hard to become anything other than an expensive footnote.
