Eat Your Heart Out American Idol

How many of you out there watch American Idol? Be honest (I won't dock you any indie-cred points if you say you do). Now answer me this, how awesome would it be if we switched out Randy with the Wu-Tang Clan's GZA, Simon for blogger extraordinaire, Brooklyn Vegan, and Paula and Kara for Randy and Dean of SubPop art-punkers, No Age? Interested?...

Well this is actually happening (kind of, just not on American Idol) on Friday, March 20 at SXSW in Austin, TX.
(left: Wait, is that No Age sittin’ on the Idol panel?!)
Dickies (the clothing company, not to be confused with the detachable shirt-front sharing the same name) will be holding its inaugural Battle of the Bands contest. Here’s how the press release reads:
Eight independent/unsigned bands will be selected to compete for the $10,000 grand prize in this monumental war for the title.
The final submissions were taken last night, and you gotta hope–with the panel mentioned above–that they’re going to pick out a quality winner. We’ll let you know what happens when it happens.
