We’ve been waiting a long time for this one. When was the last time you heard just 10 tracks on a hip-hop album? Hold on, it’s just an EP, never mind.
Mudhoney, The Lucky Ones
Brand new Mudhoney album released on the same day as their live/rarities collection. It’s a good day to be a Mudhoney fan.
Mates of State, Re-Arrange Us
Indie-pop duo add some extra oomph and aahh to their sound on this one. Word is that their live show will expand from a 2-piece to a full-on touring band.
Scarlett Johansson, Anywhere I Lay Head
Maybe the most intriguing album of the week: Famous actress with indie leanings doing Tom Waits cover songs, with help from TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek and David Bowie.
Mason Jennings, In the Ever
Pop-folk-singer-songwriter sounding good on his new album. He lived in Pittsburgh for a bit of his life, so you know I’ve got to give him some extra love.
The Ting Tings, We Started Nothing
Ultra-feel-good-indie poppers release their album on digital and vinyl platforms today. The CD comes out in a couple weeks, but if you burn the digitial release on CD, you get the CD a couple weeks early. (This may be my pick of the week!)
Giant Panda, Electric Laser
Hip-Hop with an affinity for lasers. Give this one a whirl–it’s kind of interesting.
Islands, Arm’s Way
Experimental-Canadian-indie-madmen.
Bun B, II Trill
Yep, Bun B of hip-hop veterans, UGK. Rest in peace Pimp C.
If I missed anything good that blipped on your radar, please let me know…
