An Inglorious day.

07082008_planetterror.jpg"Inglorious Bastards" is Quentin Tarantino's "Chinese Democracy," the World War II epic he's been working on forever, dropping mentions of it in interviews dating years back when it threatened to be a 600-page behemoth screenplay with enough material for three features, the film he's always claimed to be on the verge of working on next.

In late June, Tarantino, who claimed to have recently finished the "Inglorious Bastards" screenplay, said he was going to start on pre-production for the film -- for serious, this time. And it looks like he means it -- Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Tarantino is shopping the script around to four major studios, Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount and Sony, this very second. Adds Finke: "[N]ot only is Laurence Bender attached to produce Inglorious Bastards, but there's also 'a possibility' that Harvey Weinstein will be producing as well but not financing it. This certainly adds fuel to those rumors that The Weinstein Co, which made and financed Quentin's last pic Grindhouse/Death Proof (and which tanked in this country) is having movie money woes."

In related news, /Film notes that "the word 'Fanboy' is one of the hundred or so new words that Merriam-Webster has decided to add to their Collegiate Dictionary this year."

Some say Quentin will have a cut ready for Cannes, which to me is quite amazing. Rumors are also flying around that Willis, Stallone and even Schwarzenegger might make note worthy appearances. Been excited about this for a while. Cheers!
