Hello, I must be going.
By David Hudson on 06/30/2009
On the one hand, it feels like I just got here. On the other, we've been through another Sundance, another Cannes - and now, here comes another summer, and I'll be heading out soon on holiday.
I won't be returning to this particular spot, though you may see my byline appearing now and then elsewhere at IFC.com; the Daily, at least as we've known it and watched it evolve over the past six years, won't be returning, either. But that doesn't mean I'll stop doing what I do; I've been dreaming up a new format and, if all goes according to plan, it'll be rolling out slowly in two phases at an entity that'll be named when that entity's good and ready.
Really, I don't mean to be cryptic, but you know how these things work. In the meantime, have a great summer. Bye for now, but see you soon.

Allow me to second (third? tenth? hundredth?) the many sentiments expressed so far. The Daily, in both its GreenCine and IFC incarnations, was a rich and invaluable source of reading and research for me as for so many others. And having my writing linked to and quoted in the Daily was a great honor for me personally. Though I'll miss this venue, it's great to hear that we haven't heard the last of David Hudson, and that you'll be pulling a Jay Leno and not a Johnny Carson. Good luck and Godspeed, as they say.
I'm devastated that the Daily will be disappearing -- I've discovered so much excellent writing through your work, David, and I always feel a surge of pride whenever you link to my own work. ("I've made the cut!") The web will be a lot lonelier without your exhaustive linkage, but I'm hopeful that you'll return soon. All the best, DH!
So sorry to see this--but glad too to see it'll be morphing into something else all your own. Keep us updated.

David -- good-bye for now but NOT for long! You are one of THE key individuals helping to transform the online cinephile community from a pleasant-sounding dream into a reality. I eagerly await word on Hudson 3.0.
Your work has been the single most important reference source we use. As both lovers of cinema and film festival programmers, our team has become hooked and to go cold turkey isn't fair...even if there will be new fixes coming soon. Can we survive?
Whatever you do please make sure you have an way of sending out the daily link the way it was at Green Cine. That was the only negative at IFC Daily.
It would be good to know what happened but maybe you can;t say at this point.

Gosh, I'm going to miss this blog/site. Does anyone want to start an FB group where we can collectively put up interesting links a la The Daily? Just a thought.
This site was indispensable for me, just as its earlier incarnation at GreenCine Daiy was indispensable. Thanks, and have a good vacation, but I sure hope that some version of this bobs up again really soon.
One more for the record. Your work is essential, and something like a Borges story sprung to wonderful, prodigious life.
I'll co-sign what Nelson Kim said and only add the following:
Damn . . .
You will be missed! until you return, stronger than before, that is. Thanks for all your support and the great service you've provided.
