Hello, I must be going.

Groucho

On the one hand, it feels like I just got here. On the other, we've been through another Sundance, another Cannes - and now, here comes another summer, and I'll be heading out soon on holiday.

I won't be returning to this particular spot, though you may see my byline appearing now and then elsewhere at IFC.com; the Daily, at least as we've known it and watched it evolve over the past six years, won't be returning, either. But that doesn't mean I'll stop doing what I do; I've been dreaming up a new format and, if all goes according to plan, it'll be rolling out slowly in two phases at an entity that'll be named when that entity's good and ready.

Really, I don't mean to be cryptic, but you know how these things work. In the meantime, have a great summer. Bye for now, but see you soon.

Sucks. Safe travels and happy landings. Do reach out when you're revealing where you land.

David, let me be redundant and add to this comment section to end all Daily comment sections and repeat how much The Daily has meant to me and The GreenCine Daily before that. My selfishly favorite moment is when you posted a link to an article of mine right next to a post of my friend Noy Thrupkaew. It was perhaps unintentional, but it added something to the whole aggregate, having two friends in far away places referenced together. I still remember that. Which shows what you've done will not be ephemeral, and in that way it won't be missed. Again, I'm going to be unoriginal and say have a relaxing vacation and I too look forward to your future project. Cheers, Adam

That's a drag and a half, but I'm jazzed to see this new entity being all entity-like in the hopefully near future. Good luck and happy trails!

Thanks David-I was a daily reader of Greencine, and then became a many-times-daily reader when you moved over here. This was a *great* blog, and I will really miss it. I really do hope you keep it going in some form, some where.

This sucks. Please send up many flares when you re-emerge. no one covers this stuff like you.

Farewell, IFC.com. You just scotched the one reason i had to frequent your site.

Can Venice and Toronto and everything else having to do with cinema be postponed until THE NEW ENTITY is up and running? Drat, I thought not. David, endless thanks for years of great reading and particularly for all the very kind links to my own stuff. Have a wonderful summer and please come back soon. We'll be out here floundering without you.

Arguably the best cinema blog on the world is now a simple history!
thank you very much dear david.

i will miss your daily visits...

Have a fun holiday and I hope all goes well with your new ventures!

Well I'll add my voice to the chorus. Sorry to see you go after such a short time here but look forward to... whatever it is you're referring to at the end of your post. I'm sure it's something really cool that will impress all the girls.
