Hello, I must be going.
By David Hudson on 06/30/2009
On the one hand, it feels like I just got here. On the other, we've been through another Sundance, another Cannes - and now, here comes another summer, and I'll be heading out soon on holiday.
I won't be returning to this particular spot, though you may see my byline appearing now and then elsewhere at IFC.com; the Daily, at least as we've known it and watched it evolve over the past six years, won't be returning, either. But that doesn't mean I'll stop doing what I do; I've been dreaming up a new format and, if all goes according to plan, it'll be rolling out slowly in two phases at an entity that'll be named when that entity's good and ready.
Really, I don't mean to be cryptic, but you know how these things work. In the meantime, have a great summer. Bye for now, but see you soon.

Jigsaw Lounge's future hit-count just got halved. Seriously, though, a hearty "hear hear" to the warm words previously posted.
this is really, really sad news - as some people above already pointed out: a movie-blogosphere without "the daily", err, I mean... that's like fat-free french fries. however, thanks for all your GREAT work over the years and already looking for new Hudson projects. enjoy your holiday!
Again from a selfish standpoint, this is very sad news. David, the work that you do in making the internet manageable will be sorely missed.
Best of luck with whatever you turn to next!
It's moments like these that I wish I'd chosen a different avatar (hey, Rotwang, turn that frown upside down!), because once again - didn't we do this just six months ago? - you're overwhelming me with your too-kind words here. Seriously: Thank you.
And I can't emphasize enough: This project will go on. I'll let you know what I can as soon as I can and, once it's up and running, I'll be getting the word out far and wide. Let's all have a great holiday break - and more soon!
Michael
I'll miss your blogging! Come back soon.
errr, my "already looking for new Hudson projects" post clearly misses the "looking forward to"- thingy in the middle!

unfassbar für mich, ich mag es nicht glauben, hoffentlich geht es irgendwo weiter ...........
I'll miss your coverage very much, David. It's long been the first site I open in the morning. Best of luck in your next endeavor.
Devastating and outrageous, even though we all know it's only temporary. There's simply nothing else quite like the Daily, whatever incarnation it has taken. It's funny: I was just discussing how there are so many film writers out there that they can all seem interchangeable at times. Yet there isn't a single other person out there who's doing quite what you're doing. To be that singular in these times is an extraordinary accomplishment. We want you, we need you, even if you have to just come to my house, live on my futon, and tell me every morning what I should be reading. I'll feed you.

Seriously bummed over this--like most of the folks mourning in the comments section, I always made this my first cyberstop in the early AM--but I'm glad to hear that you've got nefarious schemes afoot and will be back soon, at least. Please let us know once the thing with the thing is ready for blast-off.
