Hello, I must be going.

Groucho

On the one hand, it feels like I just got here. On the other, we've been through another Sundance, another Cannes - and now, here comes another summer, and I'll be heading out soon on holiday.

I won't be returning to this particular spot, though you may see my byline appearing now and then elsewhere at IFC.com; the Daily, at least as we've known it and watched it evolve over the past six years, won't be returning, either. But that doesn't mean I'll stop doing what I do; I've been dreaming up a new format and, if all goes according to plan, it'll be rolling out slowly in two phases at an entity that'll be named when that entity's good and ready.

Really, I don't mean to be cryptic, but you know how these things work. In the meantime, have a great summer. Bye for now, but see you soon.

David, dude, this really blows. Seriously. I mean, like, have fun and stuff, but Jesus Christ, this is like the worst news I have heard in a long time. You don't understand. I'm kind of, like depressed right now.

I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do next. Have a great (and relaxing) Summer. First at Greencine and then here, you've always been my first stop. One of the few places on the net I would actually pay to visit. Thanks.

Best wishes on your holiday and whatever your new incarnation will be. Your work has defined "essential," but I hope there will be room for more of your own, very refreshing writing and opinions. On a personal note, I'm grateful for all the times you've linked to and quoted from my scribblings over the past few years.

it has been a long time since i have agreed with so many comments on one posting. David, this really, selfishly, messes up my world. what am i going to do? please work fast on your next project and i will go to sleep now, will you wake me when it's ready. if these comments aren't getting through to you, let me spell it out - w-e--n-e-e-d--y-o-u--! all the best!!!! thank you for your incredible work.

When I first started blogging, I had very meager goals...But as I got into it and started developing friendships and becoming part of the community, I felt I could reach for a lofty goal - to get linked by Greencine Daily. And when it actually happened, I nearly jumped out of my shoes...I still get a tingle whenever I see a new link...B-)

What you do has been invaluable in helping us all share our passion for film. I'm thrilled you'll be continuing on in some way, but still kinda bummed that there will be a gaping hole for awhile.

Best of luck David.

Talk about the end of a golden era. Thanks so much for what you've done for the community of cinephiles, writers and filmmakers over the past six years. I am excited to follow your passion, knowledge, and insight wherever it pops up publicly next!

David: I wish you all the luck in the world for whatever your next endeavor may be. But, dammit, don't stay away too long, OK?

David, congratulations on these new adventures. Whatever project you apply yourself to will end up setting the next bar, I'm sure. And like your many other loyal readers, I will be there to witness its unfolding. Have a great, relaxing Summer.
