It's a year of revolutions. Our country is on the brink of change, and I think cinema is going to find its grassroots populist revolution. Rooftop Films is a central part of that revolution.

HOW IS ROOFTOP A REVOLUTION? AND HOW AM I A PART OF IT?

Rooftop pushes the frontiers of film by screening deeply personal cinema--untold stories, unexplored communities, unbelievable intimacy and artistry. We show films that matter to you and your community, right in your backyard--or on a roof overlooking it.

You're already part of this revolution, and your generous contribution is needed to sustain our vital work.

Here's some of what makes Rooftop revolutionary:

•Rooftop cares about the community. We believe that film has the power to mobilize, educate, and bring people together, and we show films that cover a wide variety of terrain: films about all kinds of people, populations, and ideas. We bring relevant cinema to communities all around the city.

•Our festival is about the people who make and appreciate films (like you), not the corporate monolith that has come to define the film industry. Our screenings are affordable, accessible, and entertaining to all, while still remaining artistically inspiring.

• Rooftop believes it's important to use our resources to help people. We help produce new films through The Rooftop Filmmakers' Fund. We teach underprivileged young people media literacy and basic filmmaking. And we partner with local groups to make truly exciting and inclusive events.

Our work is for the people, and by the people, and none of it is possible without you.
