In the works: David Lynch's new web series.

In the works: David Lynch has signed with digital media company On Networks to make a new web series! Unfortunately, it'll be based on his book "Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness and Creativity," so it's best to be ready for more transcendental meditation rantings than strange narratives. Lynch has offered up online videos before on the members only section of his website, including his animated series "Dumbland," the first two episodes of which can also be found for free at Atom Films here and here. Gore Verbinski is also looking to the web -- he's going to produce and possibly direct a film based on this Wall Street Journal article about a man addicted to Second Life. [Entertainment Weekly]

The Farrelly brothers' Three Stooges film is back on. Says Peter: "It's not a biopic. It takes place in present day, and they look, dress and sound exactly like the Stooges. When the economy started turning, we felt like the world could use a Stooges slapfest." [Variety]

And "Run Lola Run"'s Franka Potente will star in "Wave," a drama about an English family of three who are adrift at sea for two weeks -- Potente's character is the only one who survives. Maria Ripoll, of 2001's "Tortilla Soup," will direct. [Variety]

Acquired: Miramax has picked up "Last Night," a romance that's the directorial debut of Massy Tadjedin, who wrote "The Jacket." (Remember "The Jacket"?) The film reunite Tadjedin with Keira Knightley, who'll play half of a married couple considering infidelity, and will be released next year. [Hollywood Reporter]

And Arthouse films has acquired "Herb and Dorothy," a doc from producer-director Megumi Sasaki about a postal clerk and a librarian who managed to, over the years, acquire an amazing contemporary art collection. The film, which has picked up several prizes on the festival circuit, will come out in early 2009. [indieWIRE]

Hey, Catching the Big Fish is great! I don't find Lynch "rants" about TM -- he tries to carefully explain & recommend something that obviously means a lot to him. Very much looking forward to this new series.
