SPECIAL MENTION to the film
"Adults Only" by Yeo Joon Han

"Still Life" was a late entry in the competition and a surprise winner, given that the competition was crowded with plenty of glitzier entries and that Jia Zhang-Ke is one of the few prominent Chinese directors not inclined to make his films with the international festival circuit in mind. The prize to Affleck has probably cemented his Oscar-considerability, despite only medium-warm reviews for the film. Our thoughts on "Hollywoodland" are forthcoming (oh, just you wait), but really, he's not that good, he's just not as bad as he's been lately — is that worthy of an award these days?
