Covering the crossroads of music and film.
Moon, Duncan Jones, Clint Mansell, Horrible Loneliness

You've surely heard by now that "Moon" director Duncan Jones is David Bowie's son, and I don't expect the news articles with clever Bowie song titles to stop, since his follow-up feature "Mute" has already been announced. There may be a reprise cameo of the Sam Rockwell role in what Jones described as his "love letter to Blade Runner." More on that bold, incredible statement here, and don't miss IFC's recent interview with Jones here on the site.
Some would probably scoff if Jones had used a Bowie song in "Moon," but I for one would not have ruled out using "Moonage Daydream." Before I even realized the familial connection, I'd thought about it when I read the synopsis -- Keep your 'lectric eye on me, babe. But the choice of Clint Mansell ("Pi," "The Fountain," "The Wrestler") as composer was spot on. The score is fantastic and heightens both the forlorn and freak out qualities of the film (though I may have been overly impressionable -- after being bailed on by three friends in a row, I ended up watching the film tired, scared and alone). The songs I've listened to even hold up on their own.
Mansell scored "Blood: The Last Vampire," also playing theaters now. His "Moon" score will be released July 20th on Black Records and is available on itunes already.
Brandon is available to play any kind of cameo in any film that is a "love letter to Bladerunner."
