MIXTAPE: Easter

Two Indie Ear mixtapes in one week? You must be thinking this is Christmas, right? Close (especially if you're gauging in terms of Christian holidays with religious significance).

Easter is upon us (this weekend anyway), so here's a playlist of tunes that will keep your head bobbin' while you get dressed in your Sunday best, leafing through a basket filled with cellophane grass, in search of that last Reese's Peanut Butter Egg:

1. "In Bloom," Nirvana
This should be the official anthem for the start of the spring. Sing-a-long now kids: Spring is here again, reproductive glands!

2. "Lose Yourself," Eminem
The Grammy-winning, Oscar-winning tune from the soundtrack, 8 Mile, the film where Eminem portrays a rapper named: B-Rabbit. Ever notice how the peace sign he throws up behind his head, also forms rabbit ears? (Eminem's namesake--espceially the peanut butter ones--are also a tasty Easter treat.)

3. "Rabbit Habits," Man Man
And hopefully those consist of giving me as many Cadbury Eggs as possible this year!

4. "Egg Man," Beastie Boys
This is my Easter egg theme song. I also appreciate that the Beastie Boys clear up a comom misconception: Sometimes hard boiled, sometimes runny, it comes from a chicken not a bunny dummy.

5. "Hunter," Bjork
Speaking of theme songs, this is the one I use for Easter egg hunting. And speaking of Easter eggs, Bjork looks just like one in her music video for this song.

6. "Spring," Rites Of Spring
Celebrate the beginning of spring by celebrating the mid-80s post-hardcore band many credit for starting emo.

7. "Jesus Walks," Kanye West
Again.

8. "Rabbit In Your Headlights," UNKLE
The greatest Radiohead song that's not officially a Radiohead song (although Thom Yorke supplies the vocals).

9. "Your Touch," The Black Keys
No Easter tie-in with the lyrics, but the album cover for Magic Potion has an Easter-looking egg on its cover that also appears in the video for "Your Touch."

10. "Alive," Daft Punk
If you're a believer, the title of this song needs no explantion.
