SUPER TUESDAY: New Album Releases (March 10)
By Jim Shearer on 03/10/2009
I could easily drop $100 today with new releases from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cursive, MSTRKRFT, Julie Doiron, Propagandhi, New Found Glory, and my favorite pop-star at the moment, Kelly Clarkson...
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz (left)
Whoa--look at the album cover--I thought that was impossible. (Note: Only the digital release is out today.)
Cursive, Mama, I'm Swollen
Anytime I hear the word "mama," I start singing Bohemian Rhapsody."
MSTRKRFT, Fist of God
Thick, juicy beats!
New Found Glory, Not Without A Fight
Back playing the brand of pop-punk that made them who they are.
Propagandhi, Supporting Caste
Best Canadian punk band ever? Discuss.
Julie Doiron, I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day
Fuzzy, indie-rock goodness.
Bishop Allen, Grrr...
More indie goodness.
Mirah, (a)spera
Born in Philly, lives in Portland, likes to use parentheses in album title.
Starsailor, All The Plans
Fourth studio album, two years in the making.
Therapy?, Crooked Timber
If you're ever in a bar and someone asks you to name an Irish band besides U2 you could always name-drop these guys.
Elvis Perkins, Elvis Perkins In Dearland
No venison (sigh), it's Dear not Deerland.
Brother Ali, The Truth Is Here
Some quality Minnesotan hip-hop for ya.
Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted
If a Kelly Clarkson song comes on the radio, you bet your ass I'm singing along to it!
Taylor Hicks, The Distance
You think he'll out sell his fellow American Idol champion above?
Corbin Bleu, Speed of Light
This is going make someone's end-of-the-year, top-10 list--probably someone who is in 6th grade.

Taylor Hicks, The Distance
You think he'll out sell his fellow American Idol champion above?
Answer: No, but at least Taylor doesn't have to bow and scrape for Clive "the Crypt Keeper" Davis and that gang of thugs at American Idol. I love Kelly and Taylor. I wish them both well with their new projects.
Taylor has some great songs on his new CD. Listen out for Yes We Can, Indiscriminate Acts Of Kindness, and Seven Mile Breakdown. Awesome!
I'm all for being open minded and listening to a variety of music, but listening to Propagandhi AND Kelly Clarkson? Those are two bands on opposite ends of the spectrum and would make for one effed up mixed tape. It's okay NOT to like bands you know.
