LOST TREASURES: Luscious Jackson

Oh how the world needs a Luscious Jackson right now, an all-girl indie-minded group with eclectic tastes, roots in New York City punk-rock, and the ability to go from funky to gentle in two seconds flat. Luscious Jackson brought all that and more to the stage during their stellar fast-break run in the mid to late 90's. I'd like to think if they were around today they'd be winning fans over weekly on the summer festival circuit.

LOST TREASURE: Luscious Jackson
Though members of the group have been releasing material over the years, the last Luscious Jackson output (not counting their greatest hits collection released last year) was 1999's Electric Honey, which sadly for me, did not feature Vivian Trimble (my rock-star crush of the 90's).
The picture above is from the CD sleeve of Luscious Jackon's "Naked Eye" single. Out of my entire autograph collection, this may be the best looking one--each member wrote a legible signature above their likeness, the positioning of each tag was placed perfectly, and the tip of the Sharpie marker was just right (not too thick, not too thin).
I'll never forget getting the autograph, because this marked one of the first times as an interviewer that I was permitted to hang out backstage. Usually when I conducted interviews for my college radio station I had to wait outside before the interview and leave right after. In a VIP area on this particular evening, I watched the members of Luscious Jackson eat dinner a couple hours before their gig at Pittsburgh's Metropol club--it was glorious!
