Please Allow Me to Introduce Rachel
By Jim Shearer on 03/03/2008
Filed under: BLOG BIOSI want to welcome a new blogger to IFC's Indie Ear--Rachel Pesin.
Let me give you the dirt on Rachel: I've known her and her sister Sarah for six years now, and they've always had a great knowledge of music--talk to them for five minutes and you'll figure this out very quickly. I also appreciate that Rachel and Sarah are true fans of music. Sometimes it gets really annoying when you talk to someone who knows album titles and release dates, but doesn't get excited (and a little bit giddy) when seeing a band live.

Last year Rachel spent a semester over in England penning music reviews for The Big Takeover (a publication which she still writes for). Her strength (and passion for that matter) is staying atop of the latest emerging music acts from the UK. She also isn't shy about showing support for her favorite artists. Last year at SXSW I think she managed to catch most of the performances put on by The Fratellis (quite an amazing feat considering they played ten different sets throughout the festival's four days). Also ask lead singer of Spoon, Britt Daniel, about the music loving sisters, and I'm sure he can tell you that they've been to a few of his band's shows as well.
