Chris Kattan, Bollywood Hero

Here's a first look at our brand new mini-series "Bollywood Hero"!

"Bollywood Hero" is a three-night Bollywood musical event starring Chris Kattan that will premiere on IFC August 6, 7 and 8 at 10pm ET/PT. Kattan plays himself, sort of, in this scripted comedy -- tired of being rejected as a leading-man in Hollywood, he burns his professional bridges in L.A. and accepts a starring role in the Bollywood film "Peculiar Dancing Boy." Fresh off the plane, he's flung into a world of sibling rivalry, cultural faux pas, funding issues and power hungry starlets.

In his quest to become Bollywood's leading leading man, Kattan unexpectedly finds a great dance instructor, trawls India's countryside for his co-star, falls in love and ultimately fulfills dreams he never even imagined. Facing culture clashes, language barriers and complex dance moves, Kattan will stop at nothing to conquer his destiny.

Filmed over ten weeks on location in Mumbai, India, "Bollywood Hero" also co-stars Maya Rudolph, Julian Sands, Neha Dhupia, Pooja Kumar, Rachna Shah, Ali Fazal, and Ruma Sengupta, with guest appearances from Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Coolidge, David Alan Grier and more. Several key crew members from "Slumdog Millionaire" collaborated on the series, including Longinus Fernandes, who choreographed the Oscar-winning "Jai Ho" dance sequence, and who's created numerous dance numbers for the series.

A wasted opportunity. The director or whoever was behind the scenes, was in awe of the whole thing and ended up whatever pieces they finally managed to put together. The story seems to have developed as they went along the ride. The end result is the confused hero, who gets serious at the end of it all. The movie makes fools of the talented lot.

As for Chris, I did not appreciate his SNL antics, but this one takes the cake for whatever.

Just saw Pt.1, terrific. Loved the Music (i.e. "Untouchable"). Is there a soundtrack?

Thank you for making this! I enjoyed it a lot, and even though I wasn't interested in his work before, I'm a new Chris Kattan fan! I found him charming and easy to relate to, and it scored big points with me that a Hollywood star doesn't take himself too seriously to try something like this. I've been a Bollywood fan for the past three years, and I find their movies very endearing. This is the most tasteful and respectful "intro" to their industry that I've seen. I was a little nervous about how the movie would go, but I was very pleased that the project took the tone it did. I loved that you worked in two popular songs from hit movies. Too many people simply think they are above foreign films unless they're very heavy and dramatic. And musicals? Forget it! I've found that the people who like Bollywood are flexible, open-minded, and don't take themselves too seriously or care what other people think. They're comfortable with having fun and being silly once in a while. I hope we can see more collaborations in the future. Thank you, IFC!
