Basilisk is pretty awesome, I love the fight scenes.

I'm an ol' skool anime fan, so when i got a shot of Basilisk, I was very impressed, I started watching anime pretty early and the drawing style and even the theme for Basilisk actually had me recording every episode. If you have seen Ninja Scroll, the movie, you can see some relation. The characters have very interesting powers in Basilisk. To just tell you what i think of Basilisk wouldn't get you anywhere, a brief description is in order! There lies in Japan during the feudal era of land, wealth, power, and, of course samurai! Two clans have been trying to unite for hundreds of years, the Kouga and the Igga, unfortunatly, they have seen more bloodshed than romance. The elders of the disputing clans write a peace treaty, however, as always, not everyone agrees with the pact. Why I would favor Basilisk is because it stays true to the times of that era, along with romance, morality issues, and true bloodshed. Both clans have characters who have mastered the art of fighting and magic and have there key ninjas. What is so interesting about these samurai is their ecclectic powers, for example, on one side (and there are many competent ninja on both) one charecter, Simon, can copy the face and body of anyone he has killed or is willing to allow him to use and become that person. Simon's technique allowes him to discuss private affairs with ninja from the other clan when they have no idea they are giving out information to the enemy. So in retaliation, the subversive samarai, had plots of their own and equally unique talents. In watching Basilisk, I discovered the creators left alot of diversity and exceptional methods for these two clans to either fight or flight. Very creative, distinctive from other anime and yes awesome.

It's an anime feast for all eyes. Ninja scroll, ninja scroll, ninja scroll.

Finest samurai anime. Own all the series on DVD, really recommend it, also. I do own Ninja Scrolls, it's okay, now 7 Samurai anime excellent.
