Jeffrey Tambor (George Bluth Sr)
Jeffrey Tambor's credits span the full range of the entertainment world, from film to television to theater. The multi-talented actor starred as "Hank Kingsley" on the critically acclaimed series The Larry Sanders Show for six successful seasons. Tambor was nominated four times for an Emmy® Award, as well as for four CableACE Awards and an American Comedy Award. He has also garnered two Emmy® Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on Arrested Development. Tambor returned to his acting roots starring in the Broadway revival of the Tony® Award-winning play Glengarry Glen Ross, opposite Alan Alda and Liev Schreiber.
Tambor made his film debut with a critically acclaimed performance as Al Pacino's deranged law partner in Norman Jewison's 1979 film ...And Justice For All. His additional film credits include Never Again, Pollock, Doctor Dolittle, Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Girl, Interrupted, Get Well Soon, Meet Joe Black, There's Something About Mary, City Slickers, Mr. Mom, Pastime, Crossing the Bridge, Article 99, Mel Brooks' Life Stinks, Three O'Clock High, Saturday the 14th, Lisa, No Small Affair, Face Dancer, Under Pressure, A House in the Hills, George Lucas' Radio Land Murders, Heavyweights, Big Bully and Learning Curves. Tambor also provided a voice in The Sponge Bob Squarepants Movie and starred in Hellboy 2.
Tambor is no stranger to television. In addition to starring on the award-winning series The Larry Sanders Show, his television credits include regular and recurring stints on such series as Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, American Dreamer, Studio 5B and Max Headroom. He also starred in his own series, Mr. Sunshine, and guest-starred in the "Dead Right" episode of the horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt.
Tambor, a native of San Francisco, began studying acting at age 12. He continued to study his craft at San Francisco State, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to complete his master's degree in theater arts at Wayne State University and became a member of the Hilberry Classic Theatre, a repertory company, performing the classics. Tambor has also appeared extensively on stage, starring on Broadway in Sly Fox, directed by Arthur Penn; and off-Broadway in the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of Measure For Measure and the Los Angeles productions of Sly Fox, The Hands of its Enemy, Flea in Her Ear and American Mosaic. In 1995, he starred in Anton Chekhov's timeless classic The Seagull, at The Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles. Tambor directed Lanford Wilson's Burn This at the Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles. Over the course of his impressive theatrical career, he has acted and directed at such prestigious regional theater companies as Seattle Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Academy Festival Theatre in Chicago, San Diego Shakespeare Festival, South Coast Repertory Theatre and the Loeb Drama Center at Harvard University. His work on the regional stage spanned theatrical styles ranging from such classic playwrights as Shakespeare, Moliere and Chekhov to more contemporary works.
Tambor lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kasia and son Gabriel.
