America is fat. We love fast food.
Some comedians are becoming zillionaires off these two facts, although perhaps none more so than Jim Gaffigan, whose Hot Pockets bit made him a household name. Gaffigan recently published a book, “Dad is Fat,” on fatherhood and parenting, two elements that have oddly become increasingly more pronounced as he’s gone on to have five children.
Gaffigan is still heavily promoting that book, but it’s apparently been doing so well he’s just inked a deal for a second. Here’s more on why from his publisher: “Working with Jim Gaffigan and his team on his bestselling book, Dad is Fat, was such a pleasure that we couldn’t wait to sign him up for another book on the topic people most love to hear him talk about: food,” says Tina Constable, senior vice president and publisher of Crown Archetype.
Reportedly, it will be filled with essays about food. If this was being written by anyone else other than Gaffigan, that would sound supremely pretentious. But, hey, at least someone is profitting off all our diabetes.
