Ever find something funny about the way William T. Riker sits down on chairs in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”? Well, George Takei certainly does. In fact, he finds Jonathan Frakes’ tendency to swing his leg up before sitting down so funny and iconic that he is officially dubbing the move “The Riker.”
“I’ve always thought there was something odd about the way he took his seat on the Enterprise. Now you can see for yourself,” Takei posted to his Facebook. “I’m officially calling this method of getting in your chair ‘The Riker.’ Do not attempt at home.”
Though it likely won’t include anyone doing “The Riker,” “Star Trek Into Darkness” is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho, Alice Eve, Benedict Cumberbatch and Bruce Greenwood. The film is slated to hit theaters in IMAX on May 15 and in regular cinemas on May 16. It’s been revealed that over 40 minutes of “Star Trek Into Darkness” will be shown in IMAX.
