Naomi has been a very supportive fan of my work for the past few years, and when she tweeted at me that she was going to quote me in her high school yearbook, I was blown away. That’s the coolest thing in the world. Small moments like that make it worth it for a largely unknown struggling comedian like me. But when she told me her school’s administration wouldn’t let her quote me because my last name spells the words Get-Hard, I was pretty heartbroken. Who’s less mature? The kid who didn’t think of that, or the teacher who did? The answer to that question literally doesn’t matter. What does matter is that I traveled to Naomi’s hometown to thank her personally, to vent my own anger and see hers in action, and to in general thank her for supporting my dumb comedy.
