The news was revealed by Deadline, though the site doesn’t know anything about the character Hathaway will play. The only other actor signed on to the film is Matthew McConaughey, who will play the character Cooper. The story is said to involve “time travel and alternate dimensions and sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole.”
Nolan’s brother Jonathan Nolan wrote the “Interstellar” script, and physicist Kip Thorne developed it. It was revealed in January that “Dark Knight” director will take his own pass at the screenplay as well. The movie is said to “depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.” No word yet on when it could potentially go in front of the camera or how many other roles need to be cast. Considering Hathaway’s involvement, it seems likely that Nolan will turn to his repertoire of actors he’s already worked with to flesh out the cast.
