Joseph Gordon-Levitt has set the casting rumors to rest. After much speculation that he’d play either Batman in “Justice League” or Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Gordon-Levitt has opted to go neither route and instead took the new role of Johnny in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.”
According to a press release sent out by Dimension Films, Johnny is “a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.” This joins the news from Deadline that Christopher Meloni will be taking the role of a police officer in the movie that is being reported as “a lead role.”
“I love how the first movie uses VFX, not to make fake things look real, but to create a heightened world unburdened by the look and feel of reality,” Gordon-Levitt said in a statement. “Plus, nobody makes a badass like Mr. Rodriguez.”
Rodriguez and Frank Miller added in their own statement, “Johnny is a new character in the Sin City world and we are excited for what Joseph will bring to the role.”
Deadline claims that Josh Brolin and some of the original “Sin City” actors might join “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.” Those who are returning for the film include Mickey Rourke, Jamie King, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Alba. They’re joined by Jamie Chung, Jaime King and Dennis Haysbert. “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” is due out on October 4.
