“Riddick” has arrived. The movie has debuted a new international poster that teases the return of Vin Diesel’s sci-fi franchise, which doesn’t yet have a release date.
The film is expected to hit theaters at some point next year, and stars Karl Urban, Katee Sackoff, Jordi Molla and Matt Nable. Diesel has been tweeting and Facebooking inside looks at the movie frequently, but this is the first bit of promotional material we’ve seen.
It doesn’t give much away, but it does hearken back to the poster for the first Riddick movie, “Pitch Black.” Whether or not the third installment of the “Chronicles of Riddick” will be more like that film, its sequel or something else entirely it yet to be determined. All we know is we’re intrigued at Diesel’s earnest attempt to keep the franchise alive. If it works, we’ll be thrilled.
“Riddick” follows the title character after he’s been betrayed by his fellow humans and left for dead on a desolate planet. While he stays busy fighting for his survival against alien predators, bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy flock to the planet to try to kill him. But they’re actually all pawns in his quest for revenge, and he attacks them before returning home to Furya to save his planet from destruction. The film stars Vin Diesel, Karl Urban and Katee Sackoff, and was directed by David Twohy.
